1. What we collect
To run Examly, we collect:
- Account data: email, display name, target band, and preferences you set in your profile.
- Practice data: your answers, scores, XP, mastery history, and audio you record during speaking tests.
- Usage data: pages visited, feature interactions, and device / browser info to keep the app fast and reliable.
2. How we use it
- Deliver practice tests, grading, and personalised feedback.
- Track your progress, streaks, XP, and coin balance.
- Improve the product — anonymised, aggregated only.
- Send transactional emails (password resets, ticket replies). We do not sell your data.
3. AI processing
Writing and speaking submissions are sent to our AI providers to generate scores and feedback. Submissions are not used to train third-party models. Transcripts of speaking audio are stored with your practice history so you can review them later.
4. Storage & security
Your data is stored on our managed backend with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access is restricted to authorised systems and personnel. We keep practice history for as long as your account is active.
5. Your controls
- Update your profile and preferences from Settings.
- Export or delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account.
- Contact us to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
6. Cookies
Examly uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and store your in-progress practice sessions. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Children
Examly is intended for users aged 13 and above. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect.
